So.... I have been on oodles of dates in the past couple of weeks and boy oh boys there are so many different kinds of boys out there!!! I have one in mind, but i'm not going to mention him bc I don't want to scare him away. SO! Movies seem to be the best date thing to do these days and I saw this one. The Perfect Sleep. AWESOME!!! Now I am not a romantic comedy kinda gal. Give me action, violence, cynsism, and really hot men in 50s inspired settings and that's it you've won me over! That's what's this movie did for me.

I was completely floored and completely inspired.

Think femme fatale, tormented figures suffering through harsh circumstances, Russian mobsters in 50 style clothing but with super modern sleek sniper rifles.

So what's is it about?!?! Chill I'm getting to it. There is character with no name, who is madly in love with a freakishly gorgeous girl whom he can never ever have. But will endure torture to be around her. *sigh* He comes back to her after years of leaving bc she is in danger. On top of that evil men want to kill him and he has to face against the head boss man who could possibly be his daddy (his mom took drugs and ended up doing the nasty with a binch people and she has no clue who the baby daddy is)

So yes lots of AWESOME fight scenes...

Crazy killer doctors that run mental asylums

And tortured love.

What I loved most were the colors of this movie makes a perfect backdrop for beautiful things being corrupted by the sin and glamour of the dark.

Monotone creams and bieges mixed with shots of color swirled in dark shawdows.

And the Pièce de résistance, the freakishly stunning architecture. These pics are the only ones I could find they dont'e even do it justice. It just gives a sense of grandeaur and presence.

I love the tag line ;)
Aw, I miss the whole dating thang sometimes.Having a kid means zero romance...well, for me it does anyway!
Hmmm, I've never even heard of this movie, as I'm very slow. That chick looks like the one who sings in the Pussycat Skanks.Granted, she is pretty. Is it her?
Oooh yes, I like a old fashioned mobsters flick. If for no other reason but to perve on the men in their lovely suits :)
right on babe!
Glad to hear your back on the dating wagon.
woots! boys! have fun and funny ladyqueen!
looks like a pretty sweet movie.
you've sold me...it sounds so good!
I don't see how I haven't heard of this film before! I've been looking for good movies to watch lately too -- we've been stuck watching season after season of Battlestar Galactica on dvd, and I'm afraid if something doesn't change I'm going to have a scarlett "N" (for nerd, of course) stitched on my chest!
Welcome back lady!! (My days can officially start being more awesome now that I have your blog to read!)
Looks and sounds like a good one...I shall check it out and try to seduce a man with it!
I've never heard of this movie but it sounds awesome... Love thriller and the strange.. Great pictures.

Ooh yay for dates. Never heard of this movie, but it sounds neat. Crap I bet I can't find it in Hong Kong.
I love beautiful movies. Movies where every scene looks like a gorgeous work of art. ..."the colors of this movie makes a perfect backdrop for beautiful things being corrupted by the sin and glamour of the dark"... your descriptions are beautiful as well.
I'll have to check this one out. Thanks for the heads up!
Have fun with the one you have in mind!
That movies not showing here at the regular theaters OR the indie places-WTF?! I want to see it now!! Damn you, Houston!!!
By the who- I watched 'Secretary' last night-If u change from watching movies a the theater to watching them with this guy at a house-and u can pick the movie-AND he's into dom&sub-THIS is a good movie to rent!
OR- If u hate him and want a way to get rid of him AND you know he's NOT into that, this movie could take care of that for you. Just eat some popcorn half way thru it and say, "Typos make me really angry too!" :)
I have got to see this movie for the set design if nothing else!
hmmm, I can't seem to find it in the NZ cinemas (just went to google).
It's awesome you're throwing yourself back into the big bad world of dating, good on ya mate!
My life's been good, been learning to design websites but after seeing contemporaries going out there making a name for themselves man do I feel blah, super awesome for them obviously 'cause they worked their butts off but man I still feel blah :(
Hope your next date goes well with "that" guy :)

Wow! I'd never heard of this movie until now... sounds fabulous. Love your description of the colors and the richness of the setting. Is it too tragic at the end? I hate it when it's just too, too sad after I'm all wrapped up in it...
