When Sara asked me to write about interior decorating, I knew she had asked the wrong person. But by then it was too late! [evil laugh]

I have little patience for design. My Hong Kong apartment - though spacious and ridiculously expensive - looks like a guys' college dorm. It's mostly bare, furnished with the classiest (almost matching) pieces I could find in Ikea.

Why? I'm lazy. When I shop, I buy things that either:
1. Can be sat on
2. Will never need cleaning/dusting
3. Are so awesome that I'm willing to pay someone else to clean/dust

There is not a single extraneous item in my apartment - no frames, no candles, no vases, no plates, no kitchen table - because, to me, they're just a hassle.

However, I do have one weakness: chandeliers. Sometimes I daydream about sitting in my bare Ikea apartment, staring at a giant, gaudy, crystal thing hanging from the ceiling.
I want one in the bedroom...

One in the kitchen...

One in the entryway...

One in my fabulous outdoor dining room...

And one in my bathroom...

As for the real world, I have a couple on my wish list. Here are a few of my faves:

I'll make sure to let you all know if/when I buy one - it will certainly be the focus of many a photo session.

Thanks so much for having me, Sara! It was great fun playing Jonathan Adler for a day.
xoxo,

Nice to "meet" you, Karen :-) Great post -- I love chandeliers too :-) I've slowly been replacing the icky brass & builder's light fixtures in our house with chandeliers -- a different one in every room :-)

Love that bubble chandelier -- I might need to get me one of those!!

P.S. Sara, I hope my zebra post didn't make your brain explode again!!

love that first chandelier! I dream of having a lovely chandelier over my bed, but my ceilings are 8' and I tend to stand up a lot in bed... just seems like a painful/destructive disaster waiting to happen.

what a fun post! K you crack me up. I hate to dust to. I live in an apartment in chicago for 5 years with no furniture, because
1) would be buying a house and no need for the crappy furniture that would be wasted in the apartment
2) I would have to dust it and under it and that wasn't going to happen!
